Venue: Sun Auditorium (NEW LOCATION, NOT McAfee)
Time: 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
The Sun campus is bounded by Lafayette St, Agnew Rd, and Montague Expressway. The main entrance to the campus is Palm Drive, off Lafayette St. ( Use "Palm Drive, Santa Clara, CA" as the address when consulting online mapping services.) We will meet in the library of the Auditorium which is Building 3 on the attached campus map.
Airports
Sun's Santa Clara campus is 4 miles from San Jose International Airport (SJC), and 32 miles from San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Use SJC if you have the option to do so.
Directions to the campus
Driving
1a. From San Jose airport, take 101 North (towards San Francisco) 1b. From San Francisco airport, take 101 South (towards San Jose) 2. Take Montague Expressway exit towards Agnew Center 3. Take the ramp to Lafayette Street and turn right 4. Turn right on Palm Drive, onto the campus 5. The mansion is towards the left - park wherever you see others parking
Public Transport
If you fly into San Jose, take a taxi (the campus is only 4 miles from the airport). The taxi fare from San Francisco airport is expensive (about $75). It's possible, but not especially convenient, to travel to Sun by train. Take a shuttle-bus to the Millbrae Caltrain station, then a one-hour train ride to Santa Clara, where you will need to call for a taxi to take you the remaining two miles to the campus (or your hotel). Ask for more information if you want to take this option. |

Time: 11:15 AM - 1:00 PM Unstructured Data Security: Managing Access Rights with Data in the Extended Enterprise In this age of the extended enterprise and cloud computing, securing unstructured data such as documents and e-mail messages poses new challenges. Knowledge workers are increasingly mobile, and the network perimeter is virtually non-existent. This new environment calls for security that is embedded in the documents and thus travels with the data. Rights management offers this capability by encrypting data and restricting what authorized users can do with it. This capability allows enterprises to confidently offer anywhere, anytime access to the increasingly globalized and mobile user base while maintaining an appropriate level of data security. In this session we will describe Microsoft’s latest incarnation of Rights Management Services (RMS) including an overview of new capabilities including automatic classification, DLP integration, and Exchange 2010 RMS enhancements. Speaker Bio:Sebastian Goodwin has over ten years experience in IT security and risk management with additional emphasis on security architecture, regulatory compliance, security policy development, and risk assessment. He has worked throughout the US, Middle East, and Europe as a trusted advisor and consultant to Fortune 500 companies. Sebastian is a recognized industry leader as the author of two books on Windows Server security as well as co-author of the Security+ certification exam. He has taught numerous courses and presented a seminar on Sarbanes-Oxley compliance at the 2005 RSA Conference. Sebastian is an associate with Edgile ( http://www.edgile.com/). Previously, he was a Senior Managing Consultant at IBM Global Business Services, responsible for designing, implementing, and managing information security solutions based on Microsoft technologies including SharePoint, Exchange, and RMS. Security Review & Outlook:The Web Has Shifted, Is Your Network Ready Information security remains a critical piece of the enterprise infrastructure, and one of the most active areas is happening on the Web. While advances such as social networking sites like Facebook, Web applications like Twitter and Flickr, and commerce sites like Craigslist and eBay are growing in popularity, the number of threats to end users also are rising. Three fundamental shifts have happened in recent years: 1) explosive growth at a rate of one new domain coming online each second; 2) dynamic, AJAX-based applications making the browser the new operating system; and 3) user-generated content from millions of consumers leaving a void in online trust. That said, the Web is a serious threat to Internet users and corporate networks, and traditional security approaches can’t keep up. Join us for this interactive discussion around what’s happened in 2008, where we are today, what we can expect in this vulnerable area going forward, and key tips for protecting your network and your users.
