Given the recent frenzy of high profile breaches, security is squarely in the spotlight. The increasing realization is that a breach will happen; but when? Prevention alone is not enough and security analysts need a strategy to detect, contain, and control threats. Traditional technologies offer limited value in this endeavor. Security teams need end-to-end contextual visibility coupled with analytics capabilities to help them take decisive action against malicious activity and attack profiles across the enterprise.

Steven Tessler, Cyber Engineer, RAYTHEON|WEBSENSE, oversees development of scope and goals for the company's SureView® Analytics solution. His in-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL, DB2 and Oracle RDBMS and other platforms has led to the construction of efficient data-sharing models of complex data for understanding and usage. In support of the Department of Homeland Security's Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI), Steven developed a virtual region-wide license plate reader (LPR) data repository. Previously, Steven led Paramus, N.J.'s IT strategy and modernization as the borough's Director of Management Information Systems, and created analytical models for the Real Time Crime Center at the New York Police Department (NYPD).
