Protecting Sensitive Data and Data in Motion using Microsoft Rights Management Services (RMS)

Abstract:
In this session, security expert, Rand Morimoto, will present and demonstrate an integrated technology built into Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products that provides policy-based data security. Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) encrypts files as well as allows administrators to set policies on the files to control file access, editing of files, printing of files, forward of content, and expiration of content such as word processing documents, spreadsheets, or email messages. Dr. Morimoto will also cover plugs-in to RMS that extends the capabilities of RMS to include non-Microsoft content such as Adobe PDF documents or access from Blackberry devices of encrypted and policy managed content.

Rand Morimoto, Ph.D., CISSP: Rand is the former Cyber-Security advisor to President Bush (2002-2007) who met with the President every two weeks. Rand keynotes conferences and conventions around the world every month and has authored over a dozen bestselling books. Rand is the President of Convergent Computing, a 65-person technology consulting firm Rand founded in 1986 that is known worldwide as having 27 published authors with expertise in Internet security, electronic messaging, and computer network communications.

Security Challenges: Cloud Computing and Virtualization - Half Day Workshop Planned.

We had an incredibly interactive meeting last month. Due to the active response and requests during and after our panel discussion we will be continuing the
topic.

A half day, afternoon forum is being developed. This session will take place in late August or
September.

In order to focus on "What is important to our members" we are asking for your input on topics to be covered and possible participation.

ISSA International Election Underway: Local Members Running for Positions

Vote by Tuesday Aug 5th!

ISSA International has relaunched the International Board Election. Current members should have received ballot instructions to their email on file with ISSA International. This election replaces the vote originally scheduled for June. If you voted between June 1-19, you will need to vote again. If you have not previously voted, we encourage you to do so.
