Past Meetings & Presentations

The following is the content from the most recent meeting. We are exploring options for recording our meetings and delivering the content on-demand through a secure, members only web portal through LiveMeeting or Podcasts as we continue to improve the way we interact with our membership.

15-July-2008:Bleeding Edge - Cloud Computing

A team presentation and discussion of the security issues associated with cloud computing: securing intellectual property, authentication, privacy, data ownership, and trust. Each presenter made a brief presentation that highlighted various issues and questions associated with cloud computing based on their area of domain expertise or research. Member participation and thoughts were welcomed. The presenters tried to address questions such as: How do we establish a trust relationship with a CC vendor? How do we ensure that the information exchanged is confidential? How do we trust the information we get back from the CC vendor? What mechanisms will be in place to ensure that each participating node is trustworthy?

17-June-2008:Identity & Access Management Continued: Data Protection in an Unstructured World

The increase and proliferation of unstructured data is one of the biggest security challenges facing organizations today. Our knowledge workers are creating, sharing, sending and replicating data at an ever increasing rate to accomplish their jobs. Our data is becoming more mobile and less controlled than ever before. It has driven some of the most high profile and costly security breaches over the past 5 years. Although there is not silver bullet there are many approaches that can drastically lower an organization's risk. The speaker (Don Elledge, CEO of Edgile) will discuss on approaches organization can take to both empower their knowledge workers while reducing the risk from data leakage
